Perception

In our group we study auditory and visual perception. In the auditory domain, we are interested in the question, how musical training affects the sensitivity of basic and higher auditory functions, like the perception of pitch, timbre, loudness, rhythm, and temporal structure. We furthermore investigate, whether children with dyslexia differ in their auditory skills and whether they benefit from early musical training.

Visual search is a fundamental behaviour. It occurs when we search for a pen on the desk or for an umbrella before leaving home in the morning. We study visual search as a fundamental perceptual process but we are also interested in search processes that occur, for example, when people read and understand graphics.
