Brohmer, Hilmar, Dr.rer.nat. MSc
Along with Gabriela Hofer, I am the contact person for the Graz Open Science Initiative (GOSI). If you are interested in upcoming workshops and events on open science, you can put your name on the email list or check out our social media account. On the technical side, I'm interested in the implementation of preregistration.
Science Communication (Third Mission):
Since November 2022, I have been part of the Science Communication team led by Prof. Helmut Jungwirth. I'm doing research on how to use different communication channels (e.g., short-form videos) to reach the public with scientific content.
Social Cognition & Goals:
From 2016 to 2020, I was involved in the completed project "Inspirational Others", which was supervised by Prof. Corcoran. In my dissertation resarch I found that the social-conitive effect of "goal contagion" is overestimated in the literature.
From 2020 to 2022, I was part of the CLP project supervised by Prof. Ursula Athenstaedt, which aims to identify how people can be motivated to engage in more sustainable and energy-efficient behavior. Moreover, I was also part of the GreenTechLab project supervised by Prof. Katja Corcoran and Prof. Mathias Wendland.
Gender & evolution:
I am also interested in the language effect of the so called "generic masculine" and how it affects our thinking about gender. In general, gender and sex are interesting topics, which I view from an evolutionary perspective.
undergraduate courses on "applied statistics" and "social cognition";
