Social Comparison and Political Behavior. Whether it be relatives, friends, coworkers, neighbors, or even strangers - people compare themselves with others all the time. In my main research I want to explore relevant consequences of those social comparisons with regard to the activation of specific goals. Apart from everyday life situations social comparisons can be relevant in Politics, where one can observe either cooperative or competitive behavior between parties and parliamentary groups. Consequently, I attempt to blend social comparisons with goals of cooperation or competition in controlled lab experiments to gain a better understanding of social and political behavior.
