University and regional networks
We are part of many research networks and fields of excellence
COLIBRI - Complexity of Life in basic Research and Innovation
Field of Excellence
Complexity of LIfe in Basic Research and Innovation (COLIBRI) is an interfaculty initiative founded in 2019 to research complex systems. By understanding complexity and interactions between components of living systems, we will prepare for future changes in the biosphere and sociosphere. Research into this future topic, which with our focus on systems of biological and social life is unparalleled in the Austrian university landscape, will thus become a unique selling point and established internationally. To this end, existing specialist knowledge at the University of Graz will be pooled and synergistically strengthened.
Smart Rergulation
Field of Excellence
The Smart Regulation profile area is dedicated to research topics related to the intelligent regulation of technological, social and economic innovations: digital data, robotics, Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, self-driving cars and synthetic biotechnology are technological developments that are bringing about far-reaching changes in the existing legal, economic and social environment.
Brain and behavior
Inter-university research network
The brain is the basis of our experience and behavior. In the last twenty years, new methods of brain research, above all functional magnetic resonance imaging, have provided groundbreaking, unexpected and immediately practical insights into the brain and behavior. Despite all the advances in knowledge, however, these methods are not sufficient to fully understand how human feeling, thinking, planning and acting are derived from the activation patterns of almost countless neurons.
Human Factor in Digital Transformation
Intra-university research network
Digital "information and communication technologies" (ICT/ICT) not only determine our working world, but also our everyday lives and have found their way into every last corner of our private sphere. They open up unimagined new possibilities, often make our activities easier, speed up exchanges between people and potentially raise them to a global level. At the same time, these developments are also associated with risks. Because these technologies are central to human interaction, economic activity and democratic action, they can affect privacy, freedom of expression, participation in the democratic process, innovation and the open flow of information.
BioTechMed
Co-operation initiative of the scientific universities in Graz
BioTechMed-Graz stands for joint research for health at the interface of biomedicalprinciples, technologicaldevelopments and medicalapplications. As a research cooperation between the University of Graz, the Graz University of Technology and the Medical University Graz, BioTechMed-Graz strengthens top-level research, cooperation and networking at the research location Graz.
inge-st - Initiative Brain Research Styria
The "Initiative Gehirnforschung Steiermark INGE St." association has set itself the goal of pooling Styrian research potential in the field of neuroscience, improving the framework conditions for scientists working in this field and raising public awareness of the many aspects of the subject.
